Jonathan Carney

An internal investigation at Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2018 found credible evidence of unprofessional conduct, including falsely denying said conduct, towards multiple women by Jonathan Carney, but determined these actions did not meet the legal definition of sexual harassment. Carney later sued violinist Lara St. John for defamation for speaking publicly about the accusations and denigrating his violin-playing ability. According to The Violin Channel, St. John allegedly incurred over $300000 in legal defense fees, while Carney was represented without fee. The suit was settled following a retraction by St. John.
