James Tibbles

James Tibbles plays organ and is a choir director.

In 2020 James Tibbles resigned from Auckland University following allegations of serious sexual misconduct involving a students. An investigation by Stuff revealed that Tibbles had been suspended and resigned from St. Cuthbert’s College following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student in 1998. When Auckland University allegations became public, St. Cuthbert released a statement apologizing for its handling of the 1998 case. According to Stuff, in a letter to one of the Auckland students, Tibbles apologized and admitted the relationship was inappropriate. Prior to 2020 Auckland University was made aware of a separate complaint against Tibbles before his appointment as head of music. Tibbles began teaching at Auckland University with the help of a reference from a colleague St. Cuthbert’s.
